Who's Mack and why is he a legend in the community of RPG Maker?
Mack is the name of someone who produced a lot of tiles and sprites, all in a particular style. The ones you see most commonly were made for VX originally.by Kes via Rpgmakerweb
It's very likely if you are googling extra assets or some spritesheet below the MV version of the engine that you have run into 'Mack style' graphics, the dude created basically a new resource list based on the art of RPG Maker Vx and he's almost venerated inside the RPG Maker community.
Now, 'Mack' did not create this particular style. The style you will see mostly synonymized with his is the default art style for XP. Mack, however, became notorious for his 'tall' sprites (standard VX/Ace sprites are 32 x 32 while 'Mack sprites' are 48 x 32) and a more mature adaptation of the graphics along REFMAP (the artists behind the FSM).
Here's a list curated by GrandmaDeb via RPG Maker Forum updated here as of June, 2026. (I do not own the organization and query of this list if somehow I am asked to take it down by GrandmaDeb themselves)
Original Mack Sprites
- 132 of Mack's original two-tile high characters available in this VX sample game (You do not need VX to access the tiles and character files.)
- Portraits and sprites by Candacis emulating Mack's Hero Party A
